Immigration Checklist

IMPORTANT: ISSS cannot activate your F-1/J-1 SEVIS record until you have completed this checklist.

1. Check-in with ISSS by following the instructions here.
2. Upload your immigration documents (passport, visa, I-94) to the Personal & Program tab of your ISSS Portal account.
3. Update your personal contact information in your MyIllinoisState account. 
   • On Campus: If you live on campus your CAMPUS address should match where you are currently living.
   • Off Campus: If you live off campus, you must add/update the LOCAL address in your My account with your current U.S. address. 
   • Temporary address: If you are temporarily living in a hotel or with a friend, enter that address as your LOCAL address type in your My acount. Whenever you move to a more permanent address, go back into your My account and update the LOCAL address type again.
   • Update your PHONE number in your My account.
   • Detailed Instructions on how to update you personal contact information in My can be found here.
4. Contact your Academic Advisor or Graduate Coordinator and make sure you are registered Full-Time.

Student Life Checklist

**If you are in a mandatory quarantine period, please wait to complete any in-person steps until after your quarantine period is over**

1. If you will be living on-campus, complete your Housing and Dining contracts.
2. Pay your student bill. Payment is due before classes begin. See the Student Accounts website for billing due dates.
3. Submit your immunization records and schedule your TB test with Student Health Services.
4. Obtain your Redbird Card.
5. If you do not have an On-Campus job, you can visit the Human Resources website to look for student positions.
6. If you already have an On-Campus job, please visit the On-Campus Employment section of our website for important information.
